Editorial Staff

The editorial staff is composed of medical and scientific personnel trained mostly in the United States and whose native languages ensure foreign grammar and proper syntax are observed and whose unique expertise allows the coordination of series and symposia for the reader with special medical interests.

Mathieu Almeida, PhD - Mathieu completed his Life Science Doctoral degree (PhD) at the National Agronomic Research (INRA) of Jouy-en-Josas, France. Mathieu received a Masters in Bioinformatics from the University Of Paris VII Denis Diderot and started his PhD in the field of metagenomics.  Mathieu played an integral role in the Meta Hit (Meta-genomics of the Human Intestinal Tract) consortium to characterize microbiota associated with type-2 diabetes, Crohn’s disease, and obesity in more than 1000 patients. He is now working at the University Of Maryland on microbiota associated with periodontitis.

Roberto Andrade, MD, MBA – Doctor Roberto Andrade completed his degree in medicine (MD) and did a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Colegia Mayor de Nuestra Senora del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia.  He repeated his residency in the United States. Following a three year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology, Minimally Invasive Surgery and Research at the Institute of Advanced Surgical Training in the United States, Roberto obtained an MBA from Johns Hopkins University and is now doing high risk obstetrics and advanced surgery in Baltimore, Maryland.

Elkin Lucena Q, MD – Dr. Elkin Lucena is one of the most brilliant and innovative scientists in the world. He heads CECOLFES (the Colombian Infertility Center in Bogotá, Colombia).  This institution, under Dr. Lucena, was the first group in Latin America and the third in the world to successfully help to create a “test tube” baby.  Many other innovations have come from this center and his understanding of medicine and his knowledge of languages makes him an ideal partner for MBP.

Joel Match, MD – Doctor Joel Match  completed his medical degree and then did a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in San Diego.  He has practiced as a family physician and as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. He is now in acute care management. Having been internationally educated, he is bilingual in English and medical Spanish.  He has over 20 years of experience in practicing medicine. Understanding medical dynamics allows him to help with coordinating both English and Spanish texts.

Tain Nix, MA, LAc – Christian (Tain) has an MA and LAc in Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. After a 5 year apprenticeship leading to NCCAOM certification, he obtained his Masters in Integrative Healthcare Administration.  He runs a clinic in Guatemala teaching medical practitioners Oriental Medicine and he has opened up the first Hospital Based practice of acupuncture in Chicago.  He is widely published and teaches and lectures in North, Central and South America.
